Why it works
Unlike breathable HDPE knit sails that let rain pass through, this sail uses a PVC-coated polyester membrane that is 100% waterproof, so the area beneath stays dry in a downpour and protected from UV in full sun. Correctly tensioned with a slope, water runs off cleanly to a low corner rather than pooling.
The result is a single shade structure that extends usable outdoor space across seasons — a genuine selling point for café terraces, poolsides and resort decks where dry, shaded coverage drives revenue.
Build & materials
The membrane is a high-tenacity polyester base with a UV-stabilised PVC coating, double-stitched and high-frequency welded at the seams for a leak-free finish. Reinforced corner patches with stainless D-rings or turnbuckles handle tensioning loads.
Edges are cabled or webbing-reinforced for shape retention under wind. For framed or post-mounted installations we supply 6063-T5 aluminium posts and stainless 316 fixings with a marine-grade powder-coat finish.

Is the fabric genuinely waterproof, or just water-resistant?
It is 100% waterproof. We use a PVC-coated polyester membrane with welded seams, so rain runs off rather than passing through, unlike breathable HDPE knit sails.
Can the sails be retractable or motorised?
Standard sails are fixed and tensioned, but we can engineer retractable and motorised configurations with tubular motors (Somfy/Becker-compatible) on request.
